Head Teacher's Message

Hello and a very warm welcome to Woodbridge Primary School.

I am delighted to be the head teacher of this fantastic school. We are a hard-working, creative and happy community and we have the good fortune to work and have fun in our amazing new building.

The school is on two levels with our Willow Garden Nursery and KS1 students working and learning on the ground floor, and our KS2 students on the first floor, all with their own common areas. We enjoy access to superb technology in our light and spacious ICT suite and the building itself is environmentally-friendly with low energy heating and cooling systems.

The school grounds are beautifully landscaped with lots of different areas for adventurous play or space to just run or play with a ball. We are always looking for new ways to develop our outside space and we now run a very successful Kitchen Garden.

Our children enjoy a rich and rewarding curriculum that we are continually re-examining in order to enhance their learning experience. We frequently have themed weeks and specialist visits and we enjoy close links with individuals, businesses and other organisations within our local community.

We have strong traditions in music, sport and ICT and we run wide variety of lunch-time and after-school clubs. We were one of the first 20 primary schools in the country to start running a code club; an after-school computer sciences club which focusses solely on computer programming and we are also a lead school in the Network of Excellence for the teaching of computer science.

Adjoining our reception class is our well regarded nursery where our pre-schoolers enjoy their own range of activities as well as joining in whole-school activities from time to time. We also offer extended wrap around provision that incorporates a Breakfast club, Lunch club and three Tea-time clubs. Our teaching and support staff are talented, enthusiastic and imaginiative and we are well supported by a dedicated board of Governors and an active PTA.

We are proud of our school and we enjoy showing our visitors why, so why not come and look around?

Mark Krisson

Originally from Watford in Hertfordshire, Mark started his working life in a building surveyors office and then insurance before qualifying as a teacher in 1987. Mark spent 20 years volunteering part of his Summer to the Children's Country Holiday Fund, a charity that gives disadvantaged primary school children the chance to participate in a range of residential activities they would not normally get the opportunity to do. Mark has taught overseas in the United Arab Emirates, and was there during the first Gulf War. He was head teacher of a large junior school in Abu Dhabi with responsibility for 19 classes and 370 children across 5 year groups. Mark holds a first class honours degree, majoring in Geography with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Hertfordshire and an MBA in Educational Management from the University of Leicester. Mark has a passion for motor vehicles and sports and his ambition is to combine the two by flying around the world in a seaplane, following Summer and the England Cricket team.
